Personal Trainer in Apollo Beach, FL
Apollo Beach is the one where the training usually has a job outside the session. People there are on the water, on a bike, on their feet at the weekend, and what they want from me is to still be doing that in ten years — shoulders that work for paddling, a back that survives a boat, knees that do not complain on the way back up the dock.
I come to you. Your home, your garage, a park, or the gym you already pay for — and there is no travel fee anywhere in Apollo Beach. You do not need a membership, and you do not need to buy equipment before we start.

No cost, no card, no pitch. You tell me what you are after and what hurts, and I tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it — and if I am not, where to go instead.

- Your community fitness centre. Most of the newer neighbourhoods have one, and most of them have plenty — dumbbells, cables, a bench. We use what is there and I write the programme around it.
- Your house. Bands and a few light weights, and nothing to carry anywhere. Good if the amenity centre is busy at the hour that suits you.
- Outside. Conditioning, carries and calisthenics, which is the right kind of training for anybody who wants their fitness to hold up away from a machine.
- Your own gym. If you drive to one already, I will meet you there.
Strength that holds up away from a machine
If the point of training is to still be doing the things you like at sixty, then the training has to look like those things. Time under load rather than a number on a screen. Grip that lasts. Shoulders that can work overhead and behind you without complaining the next day. A back that tolerates hours of being braced.
In practice that means carries, rows, presses that respect the shoulder, rotation trained on purpose, and single-leg work so one side cannot quietly do everything. It is not exotic and it is not a circuit — it is normal strength training chosen for what you actually do with it.
The test is not what you lift. It is whether a long day on your feet, or a morning of loading and unloading, still costs you the following day. When it stops costing you, the training worked.
What it costs
Buying a block brings the per-session price down, from $45 to as low as $32. Every session in a block can be personal training, calisthenics or boxing — mix them week to week. The full breakdown is on the main page.
When I train people
Weekday mornings from 6am right through the evening, and weekend mornings. The booking page always shows the times that are actually free — what you see there is what is left.
Who is coaching you
I am John Beaunissant, NASM-certified, CPR and First Aid certified, and I was an athlete long before I was a coach — soccer, basketball, boxing, martial arts. I bench 315 pounds and hold a freestanding handstand, and I coach both ends of that, so when your goal changes you will not have to change trainers.
Four years ago a car hit me on the driver's side: bulging discs in my lower back and neck, ligament and cartilage damage in a knee. For months the only things I could train were biceps curls and leg extensions, and I designed my own way back from there. So when you tell me your back hurts or your knee will not let you run, I am not reading it out of a textbook. More about that here.
Common questions
Can you train me in my neighbourhood gym?
Usually yes — most communities allow a resident to bring a trainer, though it is worth a quick check with your HOA or the front desk. If not, your place works fine.
Do you charge extra to come out to Apollo Beach?
No. It is inside my area and there is no travel fee.
I want to be fitter for being on the water, not for a gym.
Then that is what we train for. Grip, shoulders, rotation and a back that holds up for hours — the gym is the tool, not the point.
