Boxing

Pad work, footwork and defense, coached round by round — whether you have never thrown a punch, want the fitness, already box, or are getting ready to spar or compete. One to one, in Riverview and around it.

What it costs

Boxing is not priced on its own. Every session in a block can be boxing — or personal training, or calisthenics — so you buy a block of sessions and spend them however you want, week to week.

Blocks start at $344 for eight sessions and come down to $32 a session on the longest one. Nothing you have paid for expires. If you would rather not commit to a block yet, a single session is $45.

I bring mitts and gloves. Your own gloves are best if you have them.

Who it is for
  • You have never thrown a punch You will not be thrown in at the deep end or asked to spar. You learn a stance, how to move, and how to hit a pad properly, in that order.
  • You want the fitness that comes with it Rounds on the pads are conditioning that does not feel like conditioning. You will be working hard and thinking about your feet rather than the clock.
  • You already box Coached rounds on what is actually costing you — the hand that drops, the feet that square up, the shot you stop moving after.
  • You have a fight or a sparring date coming up Then the weeks in front of it get planned backwards from it, and the work changes as it gets closer.
What a session is

An hour, one to one. Pad work, footwork and defense, coached round by round — not a class you follow from the back, and not a circuit with gloves on. You get told what to fix while you are doing it, which is the only time that instruction is any use.

Everything is built around where you actually are. No sparring unless you want it, and not until you are ready for it.

How it works
  1. A free 20-minute call. You tell me what you are after — the fitness, the skill, a date in the diary — and I tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it.
  2. A first session. Stance, movement and the pads, at whatever level you turn up at. Nothing to decide at the end of it.
  3. Then a run of weeks. Twice a week is where most people land. The work is planned in blocks, and it changes as you do.
